A practical first visit to Cusco

Plan your arrival, first walks and questions to ask before booking day trips from Cusco.

Arrange the arrival first

Save Calle Saphy 853 offline and agree your arrival time before travelling. Code entry needs to be arranged with the family; room check-in starts at 14:00. If you arrive earlier, ask whether your room is ready. This gives you a clear plan for your bags before you set out to explore.

Choose one outing at a time

Start with a short orientation walk around Plaza de Armas. The historic centre, San Blas and San Pedro Market offer different ways to explore; pick one outing instead of trying to fit everything into the first afternoon. Check admission and opening details with the venue. PROMPERÚ: Cusco.

Leave room for changes

Keep a separate list of your nights in Cusco and any overnight trips elsewhere. Before paying for an excursion, ask where pickup happens, when you return and how itinerary changes are handled. An accommodation enquiry does not book a tour. Read our altitude notes before arranging the first day.
